Background  

You are cordially invited to join the “Asian Clubhouse Conference Hong Kong 2004” as a delegate and/or to submit papers for the Conference which is to be held at the Academy of Medicine in Hong Kong on 17-20  November 2004.  It is a 4-day regional conference hosted by the Phoenix Clubhouse to discuss an innovative approach to psychiatric rehabilitation with the theme, “Clubhouse Model: Growing Opportunities in Psychiatric Rehabilitation in Asia .  

Phoenix Clubhouse was established in June 1998.  It was formerly an Occupational Therapy Psychiatric Day Unit, which was converted according to the “Clubhouse Model for Psychiatric Rehabilitation” by a donation from the S. K. Yee Medical Foundation.  It is the first of its kind developed in Hong Kong .  Phoenix Clubhouse is under the auspices of the Queen Mary Hospital and the Department of Psychiatry, Faculty of Medicine, The University of Hong Kong.

The Conference is in collaboration with International Center for Clubhouse Development (ICCD) and The Hong Kong Association of Psychosocial Rehabilitation.

Around 300 delegates from Hong Kong and overseas are expected to join this Conference. Clubhouse members, staff, Boards of Directors, funders, employers, mental health policy makers, family and consumer advocacy groups, and anyone with an interest in community-based rehabilitation services will find this conference fruitful and informative. Delegates will have the chance to interact with people from Japan, Korea, Taiwan, China, Singapore, Australia, USA, European countries and other clubhouse communities to share knowledge and experience on Clubhouse Model and psychiatric rehabilitation.
